Circle City Athletics Indoor 6’s Rules
1. Matches are 3 games win by two scored to 25, 25, and 21. Cap for first two games is 29 and cap for last game is 25. All three games are played. Standard indoor volleyball rules are followed…(3 hits per side, antennas and lines are out, etc..)
2. Teams must have one (1) female for every three (3) males on the court. You must have at least four players to start your match.
3. All players must play in the front and back row (no liberos). Subbing must take place from the same position(s) on the court during the entire match.
4. All matches should be self-officiated, which means call your own nets, lifts, bad sets, double hits, etc. Please do not make the other team call it on you. If there is any disagreement on the call please replay the point. If necessary the league manager will ref the remainder of the match if teams cannot come to an agreement.
5. All net contact (top, middle, or bottom) must be called strictly. This is as much a safety concern as a rules concern. If there is any disagreement then replay the point.
6. You may not step over the mid line at any time during play, if a hand, leg, foot, knee; etc crosses completely over the mid line the play is called dead. You may step on the line you just cannot step completely over.
7. Serves cannot be blocked or attacked. Explanation: The ball while in the front zone (first ten feet of the net) and higher than the net cannot be attacked on a serve.
8. Net serves are legal due to rally scoring.
9. Double contact is allowed only on the first ball over on a hard driven or attacked ball and must be all in one motion. Ex. A spike or serve is considered a driven ball.
10. You may not attack the ball on the opposing team’s side of the net. Some part of the ball must break the plane of the net before you can make contact with the ball. Exception: On a team’s third hit after the ball has contacted the opposing team’s attacker you may make contact with the ball but only after contact from the opposing team has been made.
11. You must serve outside the boundary lines at the back of the court. You may not touch the lines or step into the court until after the ball has been hit.
12. The wall is out of bounds, the play is ruled dead. If a ball hits the ceiling on the side it was defended, play may continue by that team. If a balls hits the ceiling and clears the net, the play is dead.
13. If the ball makes contact with the antennas, the ball is out. If the ball makes contact with the boundary lines, then the ball is in.
14. Please refrain from using profanities.
15. You may use any part of your body to contact the ball. (Feet are allowed)
16. Do not play onto a parallel court, if your ball goes onto another court, the play is dead and the opposing team gets the point. Please call ball on court as a courtesy to the other teams on that court.
17. YOU MUST HAVE ALL PLAYERS ON YOUR ROSTER BY THE THIRD WEEK OF PLAY – THIS INCLUDES SUBS. AFTER THIS NO OUTSIDE PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SUB. THE ROSTER IS STRICTLY ENFORCED FOR TOURNAMENT, WITH ONLY PAID ROSTER PLAYERS BEING ELIGIBLE.
LEAGUE POLICIES
FORFEITS:
Circle City Athletics will provide a staff member on-site to assist players with any problems or questions they may have. There are no referees.
If your team forfeits a match during the season, the following rules apply:
First Offense: Loss of game.
Second Offense: Loss of game and staff reserves the right to remove team from playoffs.
Third Offense: Removal from the league.
Any team that forfeits more than once also forfeits any guarantee or right to a certain number of guaranteed games.
If you know in advance that your team is going to forfeit a game, we encourage you to email the league manager so as to help us schedule your opponent a game.
Teams may play more than one match per day, and/or play matches on days/nights other than your regularly scheduled league day/night. CCA reserves the right to schedule playoff games on days other than your regularly scheduled league night.
Any questions regarding rules, policies, or eligibility must be addressed before the start of the game.
STANDINGS:
The updated standings will be posted weekly, displaying each teams rank within its skill level.
PLAYOFFS:
Playoffs are single-elimination. Playoffs will take up to 2 weeks to complete and will be best 2 out of 3 matches.
The higher seeded team will serve first during the playoffs.
WAIVERS:
In order to participate in the league, each participant must sign the team waiver. Waivers are provided and must be completed and handed in no later than the first night of play. Players not present the first week of play will still be required to sign a waiver with our staff before participating. These waivers will also serve as your final roster.
SPORTSMANSHIP:
The idea of CCA is to have fun. We hope that all participants keep that in mind when becoming involved. Although the games may become intense, you still can be competitive while maintaining good sportsmanship. With this said, any behavior deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension and/or ejection from a game or the league.
To coordinate and run the league, our refs and/or staff will be available at all times to help the league run as smoothly as possible. If you have questions regarding schedules, policies, rule interpretations, directions to the bar, etc. please ask or call our office.
LEAGUE CANCELLATION/RAINOUT:
Leagues may be cancelled due to existing weather conditions, dangerous or unplayable field conditions, facility constraints, scheduling conflicts, etc. CCA staff makes every effort to play all scheduled games, thus we will not cancel games unless absolutely necessary. Therefore, if you are calling concerning a decision on a cancellation, remember we will not have an answer until close to the start of the league.
If the league is cancelled, CCA staff will post all notices on social media sites (Facebook/Twitter). CCA will then email/text all of the captains if possible. If a league is cancelled on site, CCA staff will attempt to contact those teams still scheduled to play the remainder of the league day/night. Depending on the time of cancellation, some teams will have to be notified on site. In extreme circumstances, CCA reserves the right to run a shortened season without a refund or schedule matches on days and/or locations other than our regularly scheduled league day/night/location.
